Apple MacBook Pro MB133LL/A 15.4-inch Laptop Reviews
In the short and quick review
The model 500 is the difference between the input level. The screen is beautiful, the new LED display is large, more color, more color, the laptop is not as hot as previous versions. Everything works, it is very fast, and this laptop replaced 2 Premium + 2 high-end workstation laptop (a Dell adapter class of jobs, and 17-inch MacBook Pro). I can edit the video to 1080p high definition in real time, without slowing down, change my 12MP raw files in real time without slowing down. I can play the latest games like Call of Duty 4 on Windows Vista Maxedia a native resolution, without slowing down the line.
With strong 250GB HD, the ability to upgrade to 4 GB of RAM, graphics card 512, and 6 MB of cache, this machine is a complete replacement for me and revolutionized my life, work style and flow work.
And ‘interesting to buy, and certainly better than the 2k version, with jumps, please read my review to find out more.
Fuller more Review.
The new MacBook Pro are fantastic! I had a 17-inch Core 2 Duo at first was good, but has not done everything I wanted or needed. I had to keep my Mac Pro and my Windows PCs built to run the applications I need, and the chance to play (to make some free game design and photography and the work of animation)
I grew tired of having so many jobs, but what can you do when you need power? Apples new MacBook Pro has responded to my needs. I wanted a laptop with a 512mb graphics card for years, has never happened until now.
Previous to this laptop, my laptop were “toys” the only close workstation I had was a Dell that cost close to 3k, and breaks his back to wear (but had a 512 card working class graphic!)
With this laptop, I sold my other machines, it’s all I need or want. If you do not respond to my needs and expectations, should be able to respond to your easily.
The reason to buy this model, due to the graphics card, and the increase in L2 cache on the processor. The model has 2k cache unless the last year of Santa Rosa Model (3mb compared to last year 4mb) this model and 17 inches has 6Mb, and the graphics card of 512 MB, dual core processor, and the ability to use 4 GB of RAM.
After getting the laptop, use Bootcamp to repartition the hard drive (no need to reinstall OS X, has been able to do so on the fly for Windows) I split it to give me 165gb for OS X, and the rest for the windows.
I need to use specialized software that requires Windows, and these programs also require very high-end workstations. Someone has life in 3D is not easy. This work takes care of all my needs. I’m running 32-bit version of Vista Ultimate (64 bit is horrible, it does not work) used to run Windows programs I need (especially ZBrush, Unreal Engine, and 3ds max) and I do have maya, and you can use on this partition , and OS X with the key, but I can not use my suite of software created on Windows, because of Adobes rejected. (but, curiously, I can run Lightroom on both platforms)
OS X on my side, I am Maya, Photoshop, After Effects and Final Cut Studio (with Shake 4.1, yes, I need 2 compositing programs) I have no problems running these programs on this system. I can do in a hurry, everything is snappy. With the GeForce 8600 (unlike ATI) maya is very responsive, and I make very few mistakes. Dynamics can be made on this machine, and I can do simulations with ease. Render times are very fast, and this system is very responsive.
Making the editing of photos, and this machine is fast as well (I upgraded to 4 GB of RAM for me 95 dollars) my camera is a Nikon D300, which is 12MP, I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively and at the same time without any problems.
I also run Photoshop CS3 and Maya and all the time (with iTunes in the background).
With Leopard, I am using this machine even better. I can use the space, and Maya on a screen, I can swtich to another screen with photoshop to paint textures, or reference something, and go to another screen for safari or iTunes.
The touchpad is cool. Even in Windows I can right click with two fingers on the touchpad and clicking with the bar, very chic apple! that runs on OS X, and (but you need to activate)
I bought the apple keyboard (not wireless, I need a full size keyboard) and the keyboard is fantastic, the best I have ever owned. I love it. I also bought the Logitech G9 mouse to use my mouse (I can not Mighty Mouse), this mouse is perfect and the price. With the keyboard you are using the cable ports on the side, so you can connect the mouse to the keyboard without any problems. It saves the mess.
For those who love playing video games (I can not do without them), you will be happy to know that you can play the latest games with great ease. I can play Call of Duty 4, the native resolution of 1440×900 (on Vista), with little or no slowdown. The same goes for Unreal 3 (and all games that use this engine). I can play Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 Maxedia all courses at the native resolution of the screen without any problems. I can play Crysis, and bioschock (Maxedia not, but close enough).
I have not been as excited about a laptop in ages. I had the original powerbook and used on everything, but it is slow, it has something to use when on the road, and the school. When the first MacBook Pro was released, I was all of this, the software is buggy, allows for 2 GB of RAM, and it is not practical as my only system, which was not applicable for the use of me. I had the 17 “when the Core 2 Duo came out was very, very snappy, and the card 256, is close to everything that I need (but only 3 GB of ram) I skipped the santa rose, in not really address anything. This model addresses everything. With 4 GB of RAM, 2 cores, 6 MB L2 cache, 512 MB and a graphics card, there is nothing I can do.
Edit Video HD (1920×1080p) in final, with no problem. I have this video in shake with 3d Maya without any problems. I play PC games upscale Maxedia without problems! (Call of Duty 4 is a game difficult to perform, and what you can play Maxedia online resources, without slowing down at all).
I work on my raw images from my nikon with no problem. This machine is just perfect. Everything works as it should, and how it should be.
The only complaint I have is that they do not have the remote in this review. You can still access Front Row and the use of commands that ESC to view the video (which looks very good on my HDTV).
I would also note, if you buy another keyboard (such as the apple external which I highly recommend (wired, not wireless) You need to go into system preferences and disable the optiion F Keys, this keyboard an FN button, like the laptop , and using your f makes impossible without pressing the fn keys, enable this option, makes your keyboard and you can use fn to adjust the volume on your laptop.
At present, I have this laptop connected to my HDTV using the cable DVI to VGA and a line of portable form. I have the audio on my tv (which I was able to pipe a system, if necessary, or (what I do), the Commission sent my chief of wireless phones). This laptop is where it is.
Please do not think $ 500 for this model over another is not helpful because it is very good. The difference between this model and the 2k model is night and day for me. They range from a toy, I can use when the aircraft, only for my computer! And this is huge if you like me.
Now, the difference between this and the 17 inches that count. If you receive 17 inches, is likly not to play the latest games at native resolution, and I intend to use this connected to my TV, so I do not need 2 inches extra. If you use the laptop, and have no plans on the games, May 17-inch is better for you. After reading many reviews, 15 inch has better response time, and everything is a little ’snappier compared to 17 inches, which is why I went with 15. There is not much difference in size between the 2, 17 is not much bigger than 15, but for me you could give my 15 “for nothing.
This laptop is perfect, and enjoy it. The design is likely to change in the next revision (as the voice of June / July), this could be the last time that you can get a good laptop that works perfectly and is everything you could wish for.
5 out of 5, no problem.
